last night my dinner plate
grew a pair of wings
flew on out the window
in the manner of the kings

up into the heavens
across the wine dark sea
and landed in a village
and sat there quietly

little children gathered
pondering the meal
then they shared the bounty
ask me how I feel
ask me how I feel
why are some things fantasy
and why are some things real?

last night my soul departed
but only for awhile
it said it had to find out
why the heart is such a trial

it reached out like an angel
a song of hope and grace
when the poetry is over
it is time that we all face

little children gathered
pondering the meal
then they shared the bounty
ask me how I feel
ask me how I feel
why are some things fantasy
and why are some things real?

last night I felt the water
saw the ocean on the moon
people strolled and laughed there
and whistled a happy tune

the price of knowing nothing
is paid by strangers far away
and dreams dissolve in stardust
and night becomes the day

little children gathered
pondering the meal
then they shared the bounty
ask me how I feel
ask me how I feel
why are some things fantasy
and why are some things real?

last night my dinner plate
grew a pair of wings
flew on out the window
in the manner of the kings

up into the heavens
across the wine dark sea
and landed in a village
and sat there quietly

little children gathered
pondering the meal
then they shared the bounty
ask me how I feel
ask me how I feel
why are some things fantasy
and why are some things real?

I like all your stuff but this one was different. Soulful, and deep.

A sad situation, but a great lyric. I'll be trying hard to find a tune that deserves to go with it.

Yo Oscar,
I was totally hearing music for this one, perhaps not the most original of sounds, but something Peter Gabriel-like, i.e. "Biko", or "In Your Eyes".

If I still had my hard-disc recording set-up, I'd have a go at it myself!
