THE GANG OF FOURTEEN CAME A RIDING INTO TOWN

Oh, the Gang of 14 came a riding into town
They rode right in the center and some locals they did frown
They rode right in the center
Bare' a nod to left or right
They rode right in the center
In the middle of the night

Some say they rode into the town because of trouble in the land
Some say that greed and violence had made them play their hand
The Wild Boys looked anxious
At the 14 silhouettes
Across the flat horizon
Out of time for sad regrets

The Gang of 14 tied their rides outside the Real Saloon
They strode right in and headed for the privatist of rooms
None could hear them talking
But talk and talk they did
They spent the evening talking
Then emerged again they did

"We have an announcement" their leader yelled aloud
"We have ridden on flooded plain beneath the darkened clouds
But now we have decided
This town can still be saved
So we haved ordered asphalt
At least the center will be paved"

The Gang of 14 untethered their horses from the rail
The Centrists took off riding, in wind and snow and hail
The townsfolk they all gathered
And looked at their new street
They all agreed it wasn't fair
And resumed to fighting constantly

Oh, the Gang of 14 came a riding into town
They rode right in the center and some locals they did frown
They rode right in the center
Bare' a nod to left or right
They rode right in the center
In the middle of the night
